How It Works In This Generation

People all around the world have been highly and extra conscious nowadays. We try different ways of keeping fit and taking care of our bodies. We drink and eat juices and food that would help revitalize and detoxify our system. In this generation, where everything and everyone seem to be moving on a fast-paced speed, an option of eating on fast food chains is considered to be a convenient way of grabbing something to fill our stomach.
People, of course, are aware that an everyday habit of eating French fries and burgers would not do any good to their health. The oil and preservative that kinds of food have may contain ingredients or chemicals that may cause a lot of diseases if not taken in moderation.

One of the most recently introduced to the market that helps detoxify our body system is a juice called “Resveratrol Berry”.

Resveratrol, according to Wikipedia, ‘is a type of natural phenol and a phytoalexin produced naturally by several plants when under attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi’. A phytoalexin is a natural antibiotic found in plants which is produced by Vitis vinifera. Production of resveratrol, though, may crash down because of the occasional use of pesticides by some farmers. Resveratrol is commonly and popularly found in grapes, red wine, acai berries and a Japanese plant known as knotweed.
Resveratrol Berry, developed and experimented by top chemists, is a juice that contains a great percentage of these phenol and phytoalexin. It is believed that when a person includes this nutritious drink on his daily diet, it will help detoxify and cleanse his body system, fighting away substances that may cause serious illnesses like heart diseases, diabetes and especially cancer.

There have been reports about the effects of resveratrol berry regarding anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, lowering of blood glucose level, and other beneficial cardiovascular diseases that were conducted and experimented in mouse and rats, and gave a positive result. Although the results are yet to be replicated in humans, the only positive trial it gave was resveratrol only takes effect in the human body once given in an extremely high dose, between 3-5 grams. Thus significant decrease of blood glucose level is achieved.

There has also been a scientific finding where a mouse was given resveratrol and tested against regular mouse on the treadmill. A significant result was noted of where the experimented rat was able to run twice as far than the regular rat. Experts have claimed that this could also be achieved by humans if resveratrol will be religiously taken in high frequency.

Resveratrol is also believed to be taking only if pharmaceutical companies and chemists combine this substance to other key nutrients. Resveratrol itself has to undergo chemical processing like coating for it to enable to reach the upper intestines, where absorption happens, in adequate quantity. In this process, resveratrol enters the bloodstream swiftly, thus, affecting the body effectively.

RESVERATROL and THE DISEASES

As mentioned, several life-threatening diseases are believed to be prevented when one adds resveratrol on his diet. Two most common and life-threatening diseases, cancer and diabetes mellitus, are presented in detailed way.

Resveratrol and Cancer:

Since resveratrol and other antioxidants, called polyphenols, were believed to be found in plants like grapes and acai, scientific studies have concluded that they help in the prevention and treatment on certain types of cancer. Antioxidants, primarily, are useful in protecting the human cells from being damaged by free radicals. They also prevent the cells from becoming cancer cells.

Resveratrol has shown and proven in a series of tests to work for prevention of cancer. The disease cancer is known to have three stages: initiation, promotion and progression. At these three phases, resveratrol shows to be actively working on them. resveratrol slows down the growth and regeneration of many types of cancer cells, reduces inflammation and the production of a protein called NF kappa B. NF kappa B is a protein complex that controls the transcription of DNA and is normally produced by the body when it comes under attacked by an antibody. It plays a role during a threat on the body’s immune system as it regulates the immune response to an infection. At some events, though, and under unwanted cause of unhealthy lifestyle, NF kappa B aids in the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Resveratrol works by mitigating the damage done by the cancer cells when they die. It induces white blood cells, known in medical term as leukocytes, to wash out the cellular debris that was left, in a process known as apoptosis or programmed cell death.

Taking a big role on the transcription of DNA, a study that was once conducted showed that resveratrol restrains the configuration of abnormal cells that can lead to a common cancer type for women, breast cancer. Resveratrol especially works by inhibiting the estrogen DNA adducts during the early stage of developing cancer.

Another type of cancer where resveratrol helps prevent is the skin cancer. Scientists and experts applied resveratrol to the skin of a mouse and exposed it to the ultraviolet radiation. As anticipated the mouse developed significant difference of fewer skin tumors than the normal.

Other cancer types that occur on the stomach, colon, prostate, cervix and ovaries were also proven to be suppressed by resveratrol.

Resveratrol and Diabetes:

Diabetes Mellitus is a common disease where a person’s blood sugar level is way over than the normal which is, according to Wikipedia, 64.8-104.4 mg/dL. DM happens when the production of the insulin by pancreas is insufficient or because the cells do not normally respond to the insulin that is produced.

How resveratrol works in diabetes is based on two ways, depending on the insulin’s action. The first way, resveratrol increases the sensitivity of the body to insulin, and therefore decreases the amount of the insulin requirement. The other way, resveratrol also helps in activating enzymes in the body, called SIRT1, to secrete insulin and its sensitivity.

With the people’s more conscious and health awareness, a lifestyle of eating healthy food, doing exercises and not getting any involved to any vices are still the most excellent way to promote and living life to its best.

Our generation is fed with a lot of healthy and helpful discoveries. All we need to do is discipline ourselves and be aware of the benefits we gain from them.
